The patient had a cut on the back of their thumb 3 weeks earlier. The end of the thumb would not straighten |
The skin incisions are marked |
The cut extensor (straightening) tendon is exposed |

The tendon has been repaired end to end |
After closing the skin with absorbable stitches paper stitches have been placed on top |
A non adhesive dressing is plaed on top |

The next layer is gauze for padding and comfort |
Plater padding is applied as a further supportive layer |
A plaster slab is applied covered with a crepe bandage and elastoplast dressing. A partial plaster only is applied to allow for post-operative swelling |
