This patient had had a fracture of her left index finger treated with too much metalwork in the USA |
The skin and deeper tissues are dissected to bone and one of the plates and screws is exposed |
The two plates we removed are shown |
After removal of the plates and release of the soft tissues nearly full bending of the finger has been restored |
The bending tendon in the palm is exposed to ensure it is not stuck down which would prevent a good result |
The skin has been closed. The finger will be dressed and movement started within a week |
